Stokes County Democrats believe:
-
In the freedoms and protections in our U.S. Constitution, and the rule of law.
-
In defending free speech, due process, and the right to freely exercise religion (or no religion) as guaranteed in Bill of Rights and the first, fifth and fourteenth Amendments.
-
In fair and equal opportunities for all to participate in the quest for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
-
In the power of the people to sustain a democratic society through free and fair elections.
We also believe that:
-
All politicians have a moral and ethical obligation to be truthful and transparent, and should not allow conflicts of interest to affect their duties as public servants.
-
All people have the right to healthy food, earn a living wage, and have access to affordable housing and healthcare.
-
All children have the right to a quality education in public schools with a safe and nurturing environment.
-
Helping working class families is more important than giving tax breaks to billionaires and that people are more important than corporate profits.
